Quilt Quips

Hmmmm, I decided to do a couple more with this new set, "Quilt Quips". So look for just one more card tomorrow and then I promise to move on to some of our new items that are available starting April 1st! I promise we have a couple of really fabulous things I can't wait to show you :) But I just didn't feel quite done with this new set. It just came out in January and was the very first set I purchased from the new catalog... It's a simple design using "Yo Yo Yellow" and "Tempting Turquoise". I sponged the "Whisper White" panel with "Yo Yo Yellow" to soften the transition and the "Ticket Corner Punch" added the perfect cove for the "Tempting Turquoise Brads". I am always so pleased that are all our items have matching accessories when I'm looking for that perfect touch to add to all my cards! In case you can't read the little writing, the cute saying is "In the crazy quilt of life....I'm glad you're in my block of friends".
On a side note, I am so happy I have been able to post a new card everyday for a whole week! And the best is yet to come!

Puns from the Past

Well, it looks like I'm not quite done with my series of quilting cards! I promise I will be soon. I have to be....Stampin' Up! has a new Occasions Mini starting April 1st that has some great new toys I want to play with and show you! You can contact me anytime if you want to see some of the fabulous new things we are using!
For this card, I chose the "Puns from the Past" stamp set that is new this year. It is very rare to come across stamps with this antique sewing machine! Red and Black is such a striking combination and it always works for any occasion! Thanks for looking :)

Pattern of Friendship

Well, wouldn't you have guessed it?? My 6th card in this on-going theme.... Do you think it will end soon?? One will never know unless you return often to see what I've been up to! I have saved several of these unique, hard to find quilting/sewing related stamp sets that I've collected over the years and appear to have acquired quite a collection :) This set is titled "Pattern of Friendship" and mimics a McCall's dress pattern. I find that I am often drawn to it and it's one of many stamp sets that I feel doesn't get nearly enough use.... I colored these gals with the "Watercolor Pencils" and used the blender pen to get a washed out effect that I think is pretty close to the pattern packaging. To change things up a bit, I substituted good old fashion ribbon with a measuring tape I found in an old box and cut it all up!

Sew...What's New?

And here is, yet, another card in my quilting theme! That's all I've been doing lately, in between all my workshops during Stampin' Up!'s best sale of the year - SALE-A-BRATION! But still, I used another retired set that is soooo old, it is virtually impossible to find any where! But this antique sewing machine is such a classic and my mother in law has always loved this image. She has her mother's sewing machine that, of course, looks a lot like this one. I did a "faux" stitching technique around the edges to give it that special detail without actually having to pull out my little sewing machine! It's amazing, in person, just how much this technique really looks like I took the time to sew my paper :) The button stamp is actually a single button from another ancient stamp set, "Buttoned with Love", that I stamped 5 in a row, colored them with markers, and them cut them out together to make one long row! All in all, this card may look simple, but is actually rather time consuming. I think the final effect is well worth it!

Baskets Full of Fun

Here are we again for another day for "quilted cards"! Card #4 uses "Baskets Full of Fun" and is also a retired set. It was only available to hostesses for a limited time. Stampin' Up has had soooo many cute sets that I have oodles of them I just can't seem to part with! I love the little balls of yarn and used the "Stampin' Write Markers" to color each one different. I even used the basic gray marker for realistic knitting needles! The colors of card stock are "Elegant Eggplant" and "Lavender Lace".

Quilts Give Comfort

For the third card in my series of quilting themed cards, I used a retired set from long, long ago titled "Quilts Give Comfort". This card needed a lot of detailed coloring, so I chose our "Watercolor Pencils". They give such a nice, soft look and are easy to use for any detailing that needs to be done. The "stitching" on the "quilt" is simply free hand, using markers. You'll have to forgive the poor picture quality, but the saying on the lower right reads, "Friends, like quilts, give comfort when needed".

Quilt Quips

This is the second card I made for my Mother in Law. It also uses "Quilt Quips" Stamp set. The saying on this card reads "may your sorrows be patched and your joys quilted". I used the colors Kraft and Pretty in Pink. I used card stock and our Patterns Designer Series Paper for the layers that have the polka dots. The striped ribbon is an "in-color" Pink Pirouette. I CASED this design from one of the very talented ladies over at SCS :) It was so cute and striking, I just couldn't resist. Sometimes the best remedy for a little stamper's block is to get the creative juices flowing by reworking another card!

Quilt Quips

My Mother in Law loves to Quilt. I've been working on several cards for her these past few weeks and this is the first of several cards in the series. I used the new stamp set "Quilt Quips". It has several cute quilting related sayings, along with the quilt themed "blocks". This one says "May your bobbin always be full!" I used Stampin' Up!'s in-color Pacific Point and the eyelet border punch to create the layers. The quilt blocks are colored using our Stampin' Write Markers.

Cheers To You

This is a really fun card that can be used for multiple occasions!
It uses Stampin' Up's "Cheers to You" stamp set and limited time "In Colors", "Tangerine Tango" and "Kiwi Kiss". I used the "Cheers" stampin around wheel to create the tone on tone design on the "Tangerine Tango" card stock and colored in the cute little margarita glass using our "Watercolor Pencils". Even though our "in colors" do not have matching cartridges for the wheeled stamps, you can cheat when using small pieces of card stock. You simply roll your wheel in your classic ink pad, making sure it is well inked and then wheel it over small areas of card stock. You just have to re-ink your wheel in-between each application! While the picture doesn't do it justice - the lime margarita is covered with our "Crystal Effects" making it shiny and raised 3-D. There is even a little bit of glitter lining the umbrella!
This is an inexpensive set from "Stampin' Up!" that includes 6 cute little stamps. It has a foamy beer stein, champagne glasses toasting, a martini glass complete with olive, a curvy strawberry daiquiri glass and of course, the margarita glass you see here. Naturally, it also has the simple phrase "Cheers to You".

Time Well Spent

This card was designed by a friend of mine (Thanks Pam;) It uses "Time Well Spent", "Simple Stripes", and "Cute & Curly" stamp sets. We stamped "Very Vanilla" craft ink on "Chocolate Chip" card stock, and used "Bashful Blue" tone on tone for the bottom. This card showcases Stampin' Up's exclusive "Movers and Shakers" die for the "Big Shot"and coordinates perfectly with our "Curly Label" punch. Using these two tools together, we created the layered window.

Crazy For CupCakes

My husband really liked this card. The color combination is very striking. I used the stamp set "Crazy for CupCakes" and colored the cupcake using our Stampin' Pastels. It is hard to see in the photo, but the sprinkles have "Dazzling Diamonds" glitter and the red card stock is stamped with "Itty Bitty Backgrounds" to add definition.

Just Buzzin' By

This is my "Just Buzzing By" spinner card. It was fairly easy to use and makes a great gift card. I used the stamp set "Just Buzzin' By" and colored the bees and flower using our Stampin' Write Markers. I used "Barely Banana" and the "Summer Sun" card stock. The "Summer Sun" framing the bumblebees is stamped with our "Sanded" background stamp.

Spinner cards are actaully very easy to create. All you do is attach dental floss in between two pieces of card stock and then apply a bumblebee to each side. (There are actually six bumblebees on this card.)
