Convention Highlights - - STILL Day 2

I am finally nearing the end of Day 2!!

We had a few hours free in the afternoon, so off we went to tour the Sweets Candy Factory!  Sweets in Salt Lake City is world famous for it's Salt Water Taffy and we were able to see how it was made, as well as, jelly beans and cinnamon bears....  It was fascinating...did you know it takes 5 days to make a jelly bean??

Since we were stripped of all jewelry, bags and cameras....top secret stuff going on in there :)  This is the only pic we were able to take.  But who's complaining, right??  Perhaps, I don't have quite enough pics to share with you!!

And, finally, Stampin' Up opens the doors to us!  Let the games begin :)  We were welcomed at the kick-off party of the year....games (no...I refused to dig around in dirt for prizes), fun and demonstrations galore!

This good - looking group of gals is a very talented set of stampers...we gather often to share ideas and many of their cards are "CASED" in my classes...

What does 3,300 stampers look like??

And a glimpse into our (not-so-secret) sanctum of inspiration and training....

I thought I'd show WHY everyone can be a demonstrator....the sharing of designs from demonstrators is phenomenal...go ahead and try to count the number of cards on just one of these panels!!  Each row had about 10 panels....And then times this by 8.  Yes, there were four of these rows set up with cards and 3-D projects front and back!
You could spend all day oohing and awing over all the beautiful cards.

And, if you wonder how I learn all the latest, fun techniques.....even we get tutorials!!  There were 8 demonstrations teaching us new ways to use our products.

Guess what new things I learned to do with our punches...

Ok...I am finally done with Day 2!  It was an extremely long day.  But if you think it's just all work, work, work...well....I did get to do a little relaxing!  Our favorite - - must get to - - restaurant every year is the Blue Iguana.  This is my Iguanarita.  Love the cactus stem :)  Luckily we walk everywhere!

All in the Family

This is the 3rd card design I took to convention to swap ;)

I love this card...it was one of the first cards I designed on my own when I became a demonstrator.  I've gotten a lot of miles on it....it is soo versatile for anything...kids birthday, new baby, thank you, friendship - - there's no limit!

Each "person" is built to match it's recipient...and any "saying" fits.

I used the scallop circle punch as a window so the little person is visible from the inside, as well as, the outside.

If you know me, you won't be very surprised by this picture!!  My card wasn't quite finished and here we are, during our lunch "break" at convention....3 days in!
What can I say??
I warned everyone if you sat tooo close to me, you just might get stuck stampin'.
Do you think they listened??
Well I took everything stamped and assembled, all we had to do was color in the little people :)
I had 6 wonderful helpers and we cranked about 45 of these babies out in about 10 minutes.

But...it really kept bugging me...they just looked like they needed something a little extra....

So when I got home, a little saying and a ribbon border and viola...just what this little diddy needed ;)

Convention Highlights - Day 2 Continued

The highlight of traveling to the Riverton Campus during Convention is to see how they have decorated The Legacy Museum for us this year.  Every year it is very different and, somehow, even more fabulous, which seems impossible!  But somehow...they wow us again and again :)

Allow me to take you on a brief tour of our special museum....

As you enter, you are welcomed into the entrance....where you are delighted by a little candy shoppe.  Just a small "taste" of the biggest display from last year.

Can you believe this is made entirely from cardstock and embellishments?

And, as we progress thru our mock home....you are awestruck by the beauty of this little girl's room.  Isn't that lamp shade just amazing??

A little country Christmas to get you into the holiday spirit....and no, it's not at all a little bit early!
Aren't those presents wrapped so simply, yet so cute at the same time??

This Birthday Bash Set-up in the dining room is one to envy...

And what a great use of space and coordination for a stampin' space!!

The Sitting Room!  Floating Frames around some beautiful Stenciling :)

Great balance of stampin', embellishing, and family photos in this array of shelves and framing.

This sure doesn't look like my office space....

Got Swaps!

My second swap I made for Convention 2011!!

I had a lot of fun with this one and it certainly was popular.

For that little bit of "wow", I used Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink in Moonlight on the polka dots on her dress and then I used the Illuminate Top Coat on her shoes and earrings to make them shiny :)

This set is seriously funny!  The saying in the bottom corner says:
"Thank you from the bottom of my butt"
so the inside reads
"It's a lot bigger than my heart!"

HAHAHA!

Convention Highlights - - Day 2

I have sooooo much to share from our second day at convention!!

Wednesday is check-in day....and we get to pick - up our Convention Bag!  Inside are lots of goodies, including the stamp sets that are given to us for our Make-N-Take class.  This year's bag was ultra cute!!  And inside was this cute binder designed to hold our catalog that was hole punched for us and came with nifty dividers :)

After we checked in we boarded "Le Bus" that shuttled us over to Corporate Headquarters in Riverton, Utah, where we toured the facilities.

On display is a production model of how a stamp set is made....the first step are many, many sketches...and once approved the images are transferred to a metal plate to mold our the rubber!!

How would you like this to be the first thing you see when you walk into work every morning??

And...the best part of the building....I think I could get used to stamping in this amazing space every day!!
Plenty of room to stamp, brainstorm, relax and get those creative juices flowing :)

And the amazing think tank room.....behind plexi-glass with floor to ceiling dry erase boards!!

Where many, many demonstrators left notes of gratitude and encouragement...like Maria!!

OK...you all thought my "stash" was bad!!  Just kidding....but have you ever wondered how our stamps get to us??  Well, it's a huge warehouse with an elaborate "smart" conveyor system.  It uses a system of lights and weights to identify the items that need to go into the boxes...

And time for a little goofing off!

Mary Helen, Martha and Maria and I had a little fun around campus before it was time to head back to Salt Lake City :)

Can you believe I still have a ton of pics to sort thru and share??  I hope you are enjoying some of the inside information I have to share :)  There's still more to come!

Did you know you have only 6 more days to join the Stampin' Up Family for only $99 ??

Join now and you could be a part of Convention, too!!
